PANJIM: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Kunal said till Friday, through C-Vigil app, 329 complaints of code violations were reported of which 219 were found to be correct.
“In last 13 days, on a daily basis around 30 complaints are coming on C-Vigil app. Show cause notices have been issued and FIRs are also registered wherever necessary,” he said.
Kunal reiterated that as per COVID-19 guidelines, only five people are allowed for door-to-door campaigning while political meetings are restricted to only 50 people. “Any violations will be strictly dealt with,” he warned.
IGP Rajesh Kumar said police have identified total 91 pro-claimed offenders and 264 bad characters apart from six identified under National Security Act (NSA).
He said so far, 1,700 preventive arrests have been made to ensure that these criminals don’t jeopardise election process. “So far, 30 of them have been released on bail bond of good behaviour,” IGP said.
As total 39 history sheeters are being externed from the State, Kumar said the Goa Police are in touch with Karnataka and Maharashtra counterparts to monitor the movement of these criminals, who have shifted there during election process.
