PONDA: A woman from Shantingar in Ponda has complained to police that her chain worth around Rs 1.80 lakh was snatched by an unknown bike rider at Sadar-Shantinagar road, on Sunday.
The alleged offence was reportedly committed at around 2 pm when the woman was walking alone along the road when suddenly a bike rider wearing a helmet arrived there and snatched the chain and fled.
In the past, over a dozen chain snatching cases have been reported under the jurisdiction of Ponda police. The modus operandi has been to request for direction from unsuspecting women and snatch their chains while the show the direction.
