PERNEM: Taking serious note of seat reservation during State Assembly elections in Pernem, Chandel-Hasapur gram sabha, in an interesting move, unanimously resolved to make the constituency ‘reservation free’.
Presiding over the meeting, sarpanch Tulshidas Gawas said that the resolution aims at cancelling Pernem constituency as a reserved seat and in this regard a copy will be sent to the authorities concerned for further follow-up.
When the sarpanch informed the members that a campaign is in the pipeline to make the village plastic-free, the locals demanded a ban on the entry of visitors to the river flowing through the village. The locals complained that visitors create nuisance along the river bank leaving behind liquor bottles.
Earlier, the sarpanch welcomed the gathering while panchayat secretary Kanolkar read the minutes of the previous gram sabha.
Deputy sarpanch Ruchira Malik, panch members Prajay Malik, Rima Malik, Bala Shetkar, panchayat secretary Vilas Kanolkar and Block Development Officer Shyam Misal were present.
