PANJIM: The villagers from Chandor and Guirdolim along with their respective sarpanchas led by Goa Forward Party leader Yuri Alemao met Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar to follow up with their long pending demands.
The villagers have been demanding to de-notify the State Highway 8 passing through the heritage village of Chandor and Guirdolim. The villagers led by Alemao have been raising this issue before the government for a long time.
Sardesai had taken up their demand before former PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar and has now revived it before current minister Deepak Pauskar. Sardesai and Pauskar met the locals in presence of Principle Chief Engineer Parsekar, Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer and other officials.
Sardesai and Pauskar, listened to the locals and assured to resolve the long pending issue by June 10.
The issue of pending bar licences was also discussed with Excise Commissioner Amit Sateja. He has assured the issue to be resolved within a fortnight.
Sarpanch VP Chandor Edward D’Silva thanked deputy chief minister, PWD minister, former minister Joaquim Alemao and Yuri Alemao for pursuing the matter to its logical end.
