MARGAO:Chandor-Cavorim Village Panchayat Secretary Dinesh Gaonkar on Friday fined Varun Beverages of Rs 5,000 for dumping their office waste by the roadside at Cotta and sent a copy to Maina Curtorim Police Station.
The dumped waste amounting to nearly a pick up load is threatening to move into the river.
Panch Joseph Pereira noticed the dumped garbage first and accordingly complained to the panchayat. Menino Gomes alias Minush, who is the garbage management supervisor, conducted a check up on the garbage and noticed that most of it was from the firm’s offices.
Minush then collected the evidence and complained to the panchayat.
