PANJIM: Chapati-bhaji will finally replace ‘pulao’ from the mid-day meal menu from November 1 with the Education Department issuing new guidelines that has also hiked remuneration to self-help groups included under the scheme.
Education Director G P Bhat confirmed the news stating the revised scheme’s implementation will begin from November 1.  “We are continuing with pao-bhaji, which will be served four days a week while chapati-bhaji will be served in the remaining days,” he told Herald adding, “We have also revised the rates for the self help groups coming under the mid day meal scheme. Their enumeration has been increased.”
The government has however put a condition that if the place of cooking is not hygiene and/or food served to the students is of poor quality, no payment will be made.
The department has called for a meeting with the concerned self-help groups to inform about the new guidelines on Friday.
