VASCO: With barely 18 months left for the tenure of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC), the councillors on Tuesday will elect their new chairperson for the next six months. The post of chairperson is reserved for women. Of the nine women councillors, four women councillors have already occupied the post and seven have served as vice chairman in the last three-and-half years.
There is a mutual agreement that decides on the chairperson and the vice chairperson and their tenure. As far as election to the fifth chairperson for the next six months is concerned, Chief Officer Y B Tavde said he has received two nominations, one of Tara Kerkar and the other of Bhavana Bhosle.
