Chaos Erupts at Pernem Weekly Bazaar Due to Traffic Blockage from Container Truck

The Pernem weekly bazaar descended into chaos as a container truck was stuck within the narrow lanes, resulting in a major traffic jam. The blockage was so intense that there was no way for an ambulance to pass through. With the Mopa Airport being located in Pernem, the commute of larger vehicles has increased in the area’s narrow roadways.

They appealed to the government to intervene by installing signage to redirect large vehicles during the weekly market, to ensure a smoother traffic flow for all.

“If such vehicles pass through these narrow roads, they are bound to get stuck, especially during the weekly market. Now this truck is stuck to a wall and it cannot move back or forth. All these trucks come this side to go to the Mopa airport and these roads are not suitable for such vehicles, we need wider roads. I request the govt. to put up sign boards banning large vehicles during the weekly market,” said Pernem Local Gurudas Pande.
