MARGAO: Carmona residents on Saturday night stopped tourist buses going to hotel project allegedly operating in a residential area within the village.
Villagers allege that the project, which is now named Verda has been constructed and conceived earlier as a residential project and has been converted into a commercial hotel subsequently by allegedly bypassing building rules and minimum requirements of road width.
Several people from Carmona gathered and stopped nearly five to six buses going to the hotel on Saturday evening.
The villagers alleged that the project was earlier a residential row villa project which has now been converted into star hotel by the developer.
A resident of Carmona Suraj D’Costa, while speaking to this correspondent said the project is in violation of basic construction rules of Goa, where in the residential project has been passed on less than four metre road and has now been converted into a hotel project.
The panchayat of Carmona has a lot to answer on this violation as the road and the allied infrastructure is not capable of handling a hotel project here, he said.
