MARGAO: Benaulim village panchayat gram sabha was abruptly adjourned by Sarpanch Remediano Fernandes amidst pandemonium over the discussion on video filming of the meeting proceedings by a member.
Former sarpanch Royla Fernandes also protested by sitting in front of the dais over discussions on the panchayat website.
The sarpanch objected to the video filming of the proceedings by a member and activist Jose Rodrigeus, stating that only the media could record the proceedings; however, Rodrigues refused to stop filming.
Former sarpanch Royla moved from her seat and sat in front of the dais as the secretary, on the advice of the sarpanch, refused to record her objection on the website action taken report. This resulted in pandemonium and the sarpanch adjourned the meet without conducting any business. Local MLA Caitu Silva also attended the meet on Sunday.
