CANACONA: The 7.74-km stretch of the new NH66 bypass linking Char Rasta to Mashem has turned into a party zone for miscreants at night with the health conscious Canaconkars during their morning walk complaining of empty liquor bottles and snack wrappers being littered all around.
With no joggers park in the taluka, Canaconkars are using the yet to be commissioned Char Rasta-Mashem bypass link for jogging and walking since last year. But off late they, together with the locals residing on either side of the alignment, are encountering the menace of empty or broken beer bottles and other plastic waste littered all around.
Locals complained that the unruly youth frequent the place with beer cartons and dump the same and leave. At night, Talpona and Galgibaga-Mashem Bridges turn into the hotspots for such activities.
Activist Pradeep Mokhardakar, said that this is a new challenge to the law enforcement agencies in Canacona. “I hope they will patrol this stretch so that no untoward incident or law and order issue arises here due to such activity” Mokhardakar said.
Canacona PI, Sudesh Narvekar he said that he has already instructed his staff to check for any such activity. “We will take action if anybody is found drinking, littering or creating nuisance in public places,” Narvekar warned.
