CUNCOLIM: Residents of Panzorconi charged the Cuncolim Municipal council Chief officer with being partial towards illegal constructions.
One Mr. Kambli and his family members along with some residents gheraoed CO Gaonkar accusing him of taking revenge on the Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias.
Chairperson Lavita Mascarenhas and some Councillors tried to resolve this issue. MLA Dias asked CO Gaonkar to find a solution to the problem so the poor family may not get effected by his decision.This controversy cropped up when CO Shankar Gaonkar sealed one illegal construction at Panzorconi.
CO has also issued a demolition order for a illegal construction coming in one private property. Gaonkar told MLA and other Councilors that sealing of illegal construction has done as per rule and he would not succumb to any poressures to remove it. He said ” We have done it as per municipal rules”.
CO said council had given them instruction not to continue illegal construction inspite of council order party comited illegal construction.
The Council was forced to seal the construction since there was no other alternatives left.
Party involved in illegal construction alleged that CO is taking revenge on them since they had complained to the MLA saying Council officers are asking for a bribe to legalise the construction. One Kambli and others involved in illegal construction told MLA and other present that CMC officers are targeting those who refuse to pay bribe. Kambli also told media that CO is taking revenge on them since they had pointed out illegalities in the council. CO Gaonkar told MLA and Councilors that he will not remove the seal nor will allow any one to remove it.
He warned if the seal is removed he will be forced to file a police complaint against the culprit. MLA Clafacio Dias and other Councilors tried to resolve it but failed to convince Chief officer.
Meanwhile it is learnt that some month back some residents of Panzorconi had met MLA Clafacio Dias asking his help to allow them for constructing illegal houses. These people involved in illegal construction had alleged that some Councillors and CMC officers are asking bribe to allow illegal construction. They are claiming since they refused to pay bribe CMC is taking revenge on them.
