PANJIM: Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Directorate of Vigilance has filed a chargesheet against a lower division clerk, Meena Tuyenkar, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 300 to facilitate issuance of a no objection certificate (NOC) for transfer of a vehicle, in 2014.
The 343-page chargesheet filed in the District & Sessions Court has 55 witnesses in favour of the prosecution. As per the case details, Tuyenkar, who was working in the office of the Assistant Director of Transport, Mapusa was caught accepting the cash from Ankit Salgaonkar.
The Anjuna resident had lodged a complaint with ACB accusing the woman official of demanding the bribe. In view of the complaint, a trap was laid by the ACB/Vigilance staff and Tuyekar was caught accepting Rs 300 cash as bribe. A case was registered under Sections 7 & 13(1) (d) read with 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, on September 15, 2014.
ACB officials told Herald that on completion of the investigation and receipt of reports from the CFSL, Hyderabad and Chandigarh, sanction to prosecute the accused was obtained from the competent authority. She was produced before the court along with the chargesheet, and released on furnishing personal bond of Rs 25,000 with one surety.
