Chargesheet filed in Patra murder case

VASCO: The Vasco police filed a charge-sheet in the murder case of Seby Patra (45), a Chicalim resident who was found dead with his head smashed at New Vaddem in Vasco on January 27 this year.

VASCO: The Vasco police filed a charge-sheet in the murder case of Seby Patra (45), a Chicalim resident who was found dead with his head smashed at New Vaddem in Vasco on January 27 this year. 
According to Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo, the 208-page charge sheet has been filed before the court against main accused, Sameer Shaikh alias Chammu, and his accomplice, Prashant alias PK, charging them under Section 302 of IPC.
“With regards the murder of Seby Patra we have charge sheeted both the accused persons, Sameer Shaikh alias Chammu, and his accomplice, Prashant alias PK with whatever evidence police could get during the course of investigation and the accused persons have already been served a copy of the charge sheet. The charge sheet has been filed within 88 days of the crime” Raposo said.
He said, “Though there were no clues , however during the police investigation, it came to light the accused Chammu had confessed to his three associates from Vasco and one person from Pune that he had murdered Patra with the help of PK. Subsequently, both were arrested and detailed statements of his close associates including a person from Pune were procured. Police also recorded the statements of the witnesses JMFC, Vasco where in they have clearly stated that Chammu had confessed to them of murdering Patra along with PK.”
Commenting on another murder case of a beggar – Satish Yellappa Naik (60), a native of Belgaum reported on April 6 2017, near Vasco Railway Station,  Raposo said  the police would soon file the final report on the case before the court as the accused is suffering from a psychotic disorder. 
“With regards to the murder of Naik, police had arrested one Mohammad Salauddin who was subsequently admitted at IPHB, Bambolim after obtaining order of JMFC Vasco. Doctors treating him had diagnosed that him as suffering from a psychotic disorder. The said accused person was discharged on Friday and was produced before court where he was remanded to 3 days police custody. During interrogations, his conditions appeared to be same as before. We are trying to expedite the investigations into this murder case. We would place all the findings of the case before the court in form of final report and court would then decide about the case, whether to prosecute the accused person or not,” he added.
