PANJIM: Reacting to the appeal made by the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) to the Union Tourism Minister regarding charter flights, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said they were seized of the matter and had already approached the Central government about the same.
Indicating that TTAG had informed him about their demands earlier, Sawant said, “We have also written to the Central government to allow charter flights and we are waiting for the permission to be given.”
Sawant opined that charter flights could resume soon and reiterated that he and the government have been following up on the matter regularly.
Sawant was responding to queries from media persons on Tuesday about TTAG’s request and on the reopening of schools.
“A decision on restarting schools will be taken shortly after our special meeting is held with the task force that will go over the recommendations of the expert committee,” Sawant said.
The State government had recently lifted the curfew restrictions that now permit schools to reopen once the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is issued by Education Department.
Earlier on Tuesday, Sawant was the chief guest for the concluding function of the two-day orientation programme for Swayampurna Mitras.
The Chief Minister appreciated the government officials deputed as Swayampurna Mitras in the endeavour to make Goa swayampurna. He said they have done a remarkable job as they have applied their mind, vision, and application of innovative ideas to accomplish the goal of Swayampurna Goa.
