Chennai: Man kills girlfriend, posts picture of dead body as WhatsApp status

The couple had an argument, and the man killed the woman by strangling her. Afterward, he posted a picture of her body as a WhatsApp status.

Fousia, a 20-year-old nursing student, tragically lost her life at a hotel in Chennai, allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend. He later posted a picture of her deceased body on his WhatsApp story. The discovery of the murder occurred when the victim’s friends noticed the accused’s WhatsApp status and promptly alerted the authorities. Following their notification, the police found her lifeless body in the hotel room where both Fousia and the accused, identified as Ashiq, had been residing.

The young woman, a second-year nursing student, had been in a five-year relationship with Ashiq. They had recently rented a room in the city and were living together. When the victim missed college classes for three days, her friends enquired about her and found out that her boyfriend Ashiq had come to Chennai, booked a hotel room, and taken her along with him.

The shocking revelation came when her friends discovered a picture of Fousia’s lifeless body as Ashiq’s WhatsApp status. The Chennai Police swiftly initiated a search and uncovered the victim’s body in a private hotel. Utilizing CCTV footage from the vicinity, the authorities successfully tracked down Ashiq and placed him under arrest.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted to the crime, disclosing that a heated argument erupted when Fousia accused him of having an affair. Enraged by the accusation, Ashiq confessed to strangling her to death with his t-shirt.

Further revelations surfaced indicating that the couple had a child during their teenage years, whom they had subsequently given up for adoption.
