VASCO: The Chicalim Village Development Committee (VDC) on Saturday decided to prepare Gram Panchayat developmental Plan (GPDP) 2021-22 and also explained the features of it.
At a meeting held at the Chicalim Panchayat premises, various village issues were also discussed followed by suggestions from the VDC members. The meeting was chaired by Sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira and VDC Convenor Custodio D’Costa.
As per the information provided by villager Cyril Fernandes, most of the VDC members gave some constructive suggestions towards planned development of the village.
Further, some main issues were raised by the VDC members, which included finance resource generation, garbage management, sanitation, ground water management, illegal bore wells, stray cattle nuisance, dry waste problem, etc.
Fernandes informed that one women from village placed her suggestions in written beforehand, the secretary has also requested all the attendees as well as other members to submit their suggestions in writing that need to be incorporated into the GPDP be forwarded by next week so that the same could be taken up for next meeting which will be on December 19.
Fernandes also mentioned that the members emphasised that if the Chicalim villagers continue to take active and vibrant role then the village shall see sensible development.
Later, when contacted VP Secretary Kapil Naik, informed that the meeting of the VDC was held and several issues from the village such as revenue generation, water supply, garbage management, stray cattle were raised and suggestions were also placed by the people.
VDC members Cyril Fernandes, Dr Wanda Araujo, Roopa Naik, Cynthia Miranda, Zina Varugis, former Sarpanch Pratap Mardolkar also gave vital suggestions towards strengthening the planning process of the GPDP.
