VASCO: The members of Chicalim Panchayat’s newly elected Village Development Committee (VDC) on Saturday submitted their suggestions and plans towards reviving the rural economy of the village in view of the post COVID-19 emerging scenario.
At the meeting held in the panchayat hall, all the members gave their inputs in designing an Economic Revival Plan for the village. The MES College has been appointed at local level as the nodal agency to assist the villagers.
MES College lecturers have taken all the suggestions and will send them to the government for consideration.
Prominent villagers like Captain Viriato Fernandes, Cyril Fernandes, Rui Araujo, Parish Priest Fr Bolmax Pereira and others including youth gave their suggestions on reviving and promoting agricultural activities, small scale business activities possible in the village.
Some people suggested that women and self help groups should work in sync to ensure earnings. They also emphasised the need to protect and preserve the biodiversity of the village simultaneously thinking of boosting the village economic activities.
Prof Sandeep Kadam informed the media that the concrete points and suggestions given by the villagers will be collected and forwarded to the government for further consideration.
It may be recalled that the panchayat had invited the members of the newly elected VDC to submit their suggestions and plans towards reviving the rural economy of the village.
