PONDA: Ponda Health Department official Dr Nutan Dev inspected the nullah passing through the Ponda market, following complaints from shop owners, vendors and citizens from Ponda that the nullah stinks due to dumping of garbage including chicken waste. Vendors and some shop owners had complained that stench was emanating from the nullah due to accumulation of waste, rotten fish and chicken and mutton waste that was allegedly dumped into it.
Dr Dev was accompanied by market vendors’ leader Kishore Mamlekar and others. Speaking to reporters, Dr Dev said some fish vendors admitted that they throw rotten fish or chicken and mutton waste into the nullah. “I will write to Ponda Municipal Council for the cleanliness of the market so that adequate measures are taken to free vendors and people visiting the market from the menace,” added Dr Dev.
