PANJIM: Parents or caregivers in the State will now have easy access to information and laws to protect their children from all forms of abuses, thanks to a new tool – website launched by the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights on the eve of Children’s Day, Nov 13.
The website www. gscpcr.goa. gov.in aims at disbursing information on children’s schemes, laws and other related information which would help in reducing the victimization of children. Director, Women and Child Development Sunil Masurkar launched the website.
In what could be perhaps be the first such initiative, the website will accept online complaints and grievances for taking further action. “The website contains online complaint form wherein people can file complaints in case of child victimization. One can even take part in discussion…” Commission Chairperson Sameera Kazi informed.
Explaining about this initiative, Coordinator Emidio Pinho warned that false complaints will attract punishment under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. He added the online complaints would be scrutinized and action will follow within three working days.
Meanwhile, El Shaddai Charitable Trust is organising a week long campaign to create awareness on the prevention of child abuse.
Meanwhile, thirteen years after the implementation of Juvenile Justice Act 2000, the Department of Women and Child Development has framed and implemented the Goa JJ Rules 2013.
The news of the Rules was shared during the launch of the official website of the GSCPCR by Advocate Pinho who stated “now Goa has his own JJ Rules 2013 and we do not have to depend on the Central Model rules. Framing of the Rules was one of the issues raised in a PIL filed by NGO SCAN-India.
