Chimbel gram sabha sees angry outbursts at frequent power cuts

OLD GOA: Since the past several weeks, many villages in Tiswadi are facing power blackouts and this issue figured in some gram sabhas wherein villagers were critical of the power department for failing to solve the issue.

First, the issue was discussed at the Chimbel gram sabha wherein the villagers cited how they were suffering from power cuts for many times in a day, particularly during night.
In fact, a villager Lourdes Conception had quipped that the power blackouts have become frequent as soon as the power tariff has been hiked.
On Sunday, the Agassaim villagers too took up cudgels against power blackouts at the gram sabha and asked the sarpanch to look into the matter so that the villagers do not have to face hardship.
Sarpanch Jaime Afonso, however said that upon inquiry he has come to know that there is power shedding going on as one of the feeders has malfunctioned.
When contacted, Bambolim sub-station AE Bandekar confirmed the same by stating that there is fault in one of the 110 KV feeder at Kadamba sub-station due to which the problem is occurring in villages of Tiswadi like Chimbel, Agassaim, Ribandar, etc.
“The power officials are working to correct the fault and the problem will be solved by today,” he added.
