Villagers from Chimbel on Wednesday began a march towards the Goa Legislative Assembly, demanding the scrapping of the proposed Unity Mall and Prashasan Stambh projects. The protest reflects growing opposition among local residents who have raised concerns over the impact of the projects on their community.
As the march commenced, authorities deployed heavy police presence along the route and near key locations to ensure law and order and prevent any untoward incidents. Security arrangements were tightened in anticipation of a large turnout and to facilitate smooth movement of traffic.
The demonstrators reiterated their demand that the government withdraw the proposed projects, stating that local voices must be heard before any major development is undertaken. The situation remained peaceful as the march progressed under police supervision.
