MARGAO: Chinchimim Sarpanch Santos Rebello has criticised Panch Constancio Fernandes for chairing gram sabha after the former left.
Favouring the market project cum panchayat ghar, Rebello said that the market project would bring in revenue and benefit the locals.
Constancio, who had said he had chaired the gram sabha after permission was granted from the gram sabha members, said the question of the market complex does not arise as the panchayat body had moved a resolution proposed by the sarpanch and endorsed by other panchas for the sports complex.
Constancio questioned why the project was being delayed by the sarpanch at this stage and that the panchayat had to answer to the GSIDC about the delay. He reiterated that the recently concluded gram sabha also had asked the panchayat to expedite the sports complex cum panchayat ghar project and that showed that the matter had moved past the debate.
Sources added that in view of the sports complex cum panchayat ghar plan, there would be a separate market complex at an alternate site.
It is to be noted that the there has been a lot of issues at the Chinchinim panchayat over the moving of the file for the sports complex cum panchayat ghar based on a panchayat body resolution. The same project has been kept on hold for years as the panchayat body is divided over the project in the past with one group favouring the market complex cum panchayat ghar and the other, the sports complex cum panchayt ghar.
