MARGAO: Chinchinim locals have demanded that the chief secretary and the government inspectors inspect the Chinchinim-Assolna road which is in bad shape.
Referring to the chief secretary’s inspection of the Dabolim to Mobor road via Colva for the BRICS summit, Chinchinim resident Wilfred Mascarenhas noted that the people using that road will heave a sigh of relief.
“Wouldn’t it be a good idea for the Chief Secretary to similarly visit other roads in Goa where unlevelled roads and other obstructions are the order of the day? All entreaties to local bodies and MLA’S to make the roads worthy of motoring have fallen on deaf ears. The road leading from Chinchinim to Assolna was dug up much before the monsoons to lay some pipes but was not levelled and tarred before the monsoon causing hardships to travellers. Also, a culvert has been under construction for the last several months on this road, making the site a virtual death trap for motorists in the night. There are similar cases of dug up roads in different parts of Goa. Hence my humble appeal to the chief secretary to do the needful to ensure that we the citizens of Goa are also provided motorable, obstruction-free roads, just as the BRICS delegates” Wilfred added.
