Chinchinim-Deussua panchas smell a rat in construction licence issued to mega project

MARGAO: Nine panchas of the Chinchinim–Deussua panchayat have written to the Salcete Block Development Officer (BDO) asking that the construction licence of a commercial project in the village be kept in abeyance.

“Since the (panchayat) members have found various discrepancies in the minutes recorded by the then secretary Allauddin Maniyar, pertaining to the above-mentioned construction license file, we hereby request you to kindly keep the mentioned construction license in abeyance and kindly look into the matter,” read the letter.

The signatories to this appeal included Deputy Sarpanch Sharmila Graicas and other panch members Wilfred Rodrigues, Dominic Pereira, Gerson Gomes, Ritisha Gonsalves, Joycee Rebello, Santos Rebello, Piedade Fernandes and Frank Viegas.

Gomes pointed out that the multi-shop project is in the Chinchinm bazaar, the prime market area and there is not enough parking and it allegedly has some other issues too, which is why they have taken up this matter.
