MARGAO: Gram sabha members of the Village Panchayat Chinchinim-Deussua on Saturday resolved to scrap amendment to the Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulation Act.
At the extraordinary gram sabha called by Valentino Barreto, Sarpanch of Village Panchayat Chinchinim, it was also resolved that the Jetty Policy should benefit the locals.
Agnelo Antao, gram sabha member, demanded the government to re-think on the amendments to Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulations Act.
Stressing on the Jetty Policy, panch member Frank Viegas said that the said policy needs to benefit the locals and not create hardships.
“The Jetty Policy should have been prepared by taking the local fishing community and stakeholders into confidence,” he stated.
Sarpanch Barretto told Herald that after the lengthy discussion gram sabha members resolved to scrap the proposed amendments.
Cyril Leitao, Ajit Samant and others also spoke on the above amendments.
