MARGAO: Frustrated with the frequent power cuts, now Chinchinim Citizens Forum have warned of taking to the streets if the power department failed to regularise the electricity supply within the next eight days. Speaking to reporters’ members of the Chinchinim Citizens Forum (CCF) has threatened to block the roads until their grievances are resolved.
They have further stated that their village is badly affected due to the power cuts on a regular basis and even the department has failed to complete the pre-monsoon works on time. It is
pertinent to note that recently, representatives of all the panchayats of Velim
constituency, including Chinchinim had met the officials of the power department and requested to resolve the issue.
However, now, residents and even the senior citizens are upset with the frequent power breakdowns. There are complaints from several other villages of the Salcete taluka pertaining to the
irregular power supply these days.
Nevil Rebello, President of CCF said that citizens will wait till the next eight days so that the department can resolve the issue.
“We will give a call to the villagers to come onto the street and go to any extent in taking the law into their our hands. People have already lost their patience. This government has failed to supply regular power. Time and again the department is giving some excuse for power failure,” he stated.
Another citizen claimed that the village of Chinchinim is suffering the most due to power supply. ‘It is our last request to the department and the power minister to resolve the issue. Concerned minister needs to have a meeting with the officials and deliberate on the issue immediately. Student community is also suffering a lot due to the frequent power supply,” he claimed.
Citizens have further claimed that the business community in Chinchinim too are suffering huge losses due to the power cuts.
