Chinchinim villagers urged to help nab culprits dumping garbage

MARGAO: Chinchinim-Deussua sarpanch Valentino Barretto requested villagers to be vigilant and help tackle the garbage dumping by assisting in catching the culprits.

Updates were also given on efforts taken by the panchayat to nab such culprits at the gram sabha held on Sunday.

The villagers were also informed that the panchayat collects dry waste and diapers and sanitary waste from every household every week and that the total amount of dry waste collected last year until January this year was 250 tonnes and that for sanitary waste, it was 75 tonnes.

In other matters, the budget for the upcoming financial year was passed with a special provision made for acquiring land to create assets for the panchayat on behalf of the village.

The panchayat pointed out that their request to the Chinchinim Comunidade to provide land for the construction of a full-fledged Material Recovery Facility (MRF) shed had been granted.

Amongst proposals received, it was agreed that farmers can construct a pathway to transport their machinery to their fields provided they receive the necessary NOCs.

Other matters taken up were organising a kitchen gardening competition and seek government support to ensure each residence has a motorable road for ambulances to gain easy access.

It was also decided to ask the government to denotify a stretch of an internal village road as the Major District Road (MDR) 42 and to instead notify the Deussua bypass road as the MDR.

Concerns were also raised about the condition of the Assolna Bridge, a heritage building at the Chinchinim bazaar and marking parking zones near the bazaar.
