CHOGM road widening opposed

SANGOLDA: Widening of the CHOGM road, license to micro-brewery, illegal constructions in the fields, mobile towers and other development works were among the various issues that were discussed at the Sangolda gramsabha on Sunday morning.
The gramsabha proceedings were delayed for nearly half an hour due to lack of quorum.
Locals strongly opposed the proposal to take up widening of the CHOGM road and claimed that this would be waste of public money. They suggested that the existing road could be hot-mixed and maintained as it is.
The issue of setting up of mobile towers witnessed a heated discussion. The villagers demanded to know from the Sarpanch, Avinash Naik, whether any permission was given for setting up of mobile towers. Naik informed the gathering that no permissions were granted to set up mobile towers and would initiate action against the illegal towers.
