BICHOLIM: The United Citizens of Chorao (UCC) has said that the villagers have some doubts over the Chorao bridge, for which the an e-tender was floated last week, and asked the chief minister and local MLA clarify the same by holding a meeting in the village.
The call was made via a memorandum that UCC submitted to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and local MLA Anant Shet, last week.
In the memorandum, the UCC brought to the attention of the chief minister that in the last assembly election, the BJP had assured build a bridge within two years of coming to power. But since then nothing has been done and now when the assembly elections are just round the corner, the GSIDC has floated an e-tender without acquiring land for approach roads, the UCC stated in the memorandum. “This is an election bluster by the BJP to fool the Chorao villagers again,” the memorandum reads as.
“We are pursuing the bridge issue in a democratic way since last two years by submitting a number of memorandums and peaceful agitation,” UCC President Shrikrishna Haldankar said.
