Margao: Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao confirmed having won 4 out of the 7 panchayats in the Benaulim constituency. Churchill disclosed this at a press conference addressed by him alongwith the new Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch elect.
Churchill said “Benaulimkaars made me win this election. Later many said that they will contest in Panchayat elections which has enabled me to secure a good win even in Panchayats” he said.
Clarifying on the confusion of Colva Panchayat Sarpanch selection Churchill said “Colva too all 9 got elected and it is due to the support to Churchill. However I am saddened that because of the rift between our own group my choice for the Sarpanch who was former Sarpanch Menino Fernandes couldn’t be selected. He had 4 and the other group got 5,” he said.
Speaking on Varca Panchayat, Churchill said “We got 5 out of 9 but they made a group and got their own panchayat. “I have no interest in the Panchayat but will support them completely,” he added.
Churchill said out of the 7, 4 Panchayats in Benaulim which are Benaulim, Seraulim, Orlim and Colva are supported by him now.
