MARGAO: Clearing his stand over the recent acceptance and rejection row with Congress, former legislator Churchill Alemao has said that he is of no party but of the people.
“Churchill is the creator of these MLAs like Reginaldo Lourenco and all, my politics is people centric, will see if the party is willing, or else Churchill has the capacity to fight elections independent and win them” said Churchill while criticizing the Curtorim legislator.
“Reginaldo is willing to join the ‘First Front’. He should go ahead and join openly. Why is he taking political mileage at someone else cost?,” added Churchill.
Churchill also observed that the Congress leadership was not the business of selection and rejection but blamed people in the party who have personal interests and who have been speaking against him.
“Reginaldo has no standing to get to say who stays in party and who doesn’t because he is a failure of the Lok Sabha elections in 2014” said Churchill.
Churchill has, however cleared, that he hasn’t met any Congress leaders but many of them have openly spoken of having denied of any participation in rejection of anyone. “Congress has many samples like Reginaldo and he is one of them responsible for the loss of Congress seat in south Goa” said Churchill while mocking Reginaldo.
“He doesn’t know what is Alemao. Congress has many samples like Reginaldo, I have taken him where he is today” added Churchill.
Continuing his tirade against his opponent during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Churchill retorted, “The person who says he is a opposition to the government should revolt, object, raise his voice and at the same time get the work done but leaders like Reginaldo lack conviction to get the works done”
On his political future, Churchill said that he will contest elections on either the Benaulim or Navelim ticket but will not decide party so soon.
Churchill has expressed no keenness on aligning with the new first front or any third front. “People are the super power and Benaulikaars are my party ticket, they will decide Churchill’s fate in politics.” added Churchill.
“Sardinha has quit, Luizinho has quit, Dr Willy has quit, Narvenkar has quit, and many have quit the Congress. Even I have quit after I was hurt, Congress is like an ocean, many come and go, but the party is never good or bad” said Churchill clearly indicating that he did not see the Congress chapter as over.
“Because of the wrong decision of Congress, the party lost the south Goa seat. I had completely backed Francisco Sardinha for the south Goa seat and the denial of ticket to Sardinha had forced me to leave Congress and no other reason” said Churchill when asked about Congress.
