PANJIM: The Special Court North Goa will pronounce two crucial bail orders on October 12, that of former JICA project director A M Wachasundar and former PWD Minister Churchill Alemao. Arguments on Wachasundar’s bail application ended on Thursday.
Crime Branch that is probing the case had arrested Alemao on August 5 and he is currently in judicial custody.
His bail application has been rejected twice by the Special Court and once by the High Court.
Whereas Wachasundar, who was arrested on July 27 and presently in judicial custody, has had his bail applications rejected twice.
Opposing the bail on Thursday Special Public Prosecutor Rajeev Gomes said the investigation officer could not get sufficient time to investigate the case and sought Wachasundar’s custody for a longer period.
Gomes also said that filing of a chargesheet doesn’t mean that the investigation has ended.
Arguing further, he said the case is of high magnitude and bureaucrats are also involved.
He added that Wachasundar may influence witnesses.
as they have mentioned in its Section 164 CrPC statement that he was present at the time the bribes were given.
Wachasundar’s counsel Kamlesh Gumare ruled out the possibility of his client influencing or threatening witness as they are from Kolkata and Jaipur. He mentioned that there is a change in circumstances since the chargesheet has been filed.
