Sources said that Alemao’s wife, Fatima, fell unwell and doctors were summoned to treat her on Tuesday.
There was no untoward incident reported and while Alemao’s supporters watched, Crime Branch sleuths are believed to have taken important documents with them. Sources claim a diary from the time Alemao was the minister and other correspondence material was attached by Crime Branch.
Two CB teams, one led by PI Rajendra Prabhudesai and another led by PI Vishwesh Karpe, led the raiding teams to Alemao house and office at Varca.
Expecting that Alemao’s supporters may gather at the residence, two buses of armed force personnel were stationed at the residence and office. Most of the supporters and the Alemao family were in Panjim when the raid took place. The few supporters present were kept at bay by the large police force.
The raids started at 4.20 pm and ended at 6.15 pm.
The raid comes against the backdrop of complaints by the Alemao camp questioning the arrest when the house and office were not searched or any documents attached.
Alemao’s family and friends continue to protest his innocence and are convinced he has nothing to fear and the raid would prove to be an effort in vain despite Crime Branch appearing confident in the case.
