NAVELIM: Sitting ZP member Cipru Cardozo retained the Navelim seat by a handsome margin of 4408 votes.
After his victory, Cipru said he had contested the election as an Independent and attributed his victory to the support of the people of the four villages. He said he had sought the support of Navelim MLA Avertano Furtado, Congress president Luizinho Faleiro and others for his candidature. He, however, clarified that former Navelim MLA Churchill Alemao did not support his candidature and even accused the former PWD Minister for asking the voters to defeat him in the husting.
