Did the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Airport Authority of India (AAI) misuse its powers while accommodating the Karnataka rebel MLAs in the conference hall of the airport?
State BJP leaders, including Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar and Rajendra Arlekar, certainly seem to think so, after they complained that passengers were at the receiving end as airport authorities went overboard to accommodate the rebel MLAs in the airport.
Parrikar and Arlekar alleged that rebel MLAs and MPs of Congress and JD(S) were given entry into airport without a boarding pass and ticket.
“Supporters of rebel MLAs easily walked in the airport during the mad rush at both departure points, exposing great security breach at the airport,” said a miffed Arlekar.
“Even the AAI and CISF security was misused for protection of rebel MLAs and this happened with the connivance of the state and central governments,” he added.
Parrikar accused SP (South) Allen De Sa and Vasco DySP Mahesh Gaonkar of acting at the behest of the state government.
“The state machinery is rampantly being misused in this political crisis. If the Goa police is alleged to have helped drug dealer Atal to escape from India, what can be expected from this police,” asked Parrikar.
Many teams from Goa police were deployed outside the airport, while the CISF had also mobilized an extra force.
Airport Director D Paul Manickam, who witnessed the chaos outside the airport, smiled when asked for his comments regarding the chaos at the airport.
“It is the duty of the CISF to guard the airport,” he said, while leaving in his car.
CISF Deputy Commander K P Singh refuted allegations of the BJP that its force had misused its powers at the airport.
“The CISF frisked everyone who entered in the airport,” insisted Singh.
