PANJIM: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has assured the Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) to undertake caution to prevent assault on people.
CISF Commandant N Mrinal has also assured to act against erring officers involved in such incidents.
“Commandant Mrinal submitted that they will take proper action against the erring officers and will take care and caution to ensure that such incidents would not occur in future and that in the event such incidents take place, appropriate strict action will be taken,” GHRC member Pramod Kamat said in a two-page recommendation while disposing of a petition on Wednesday.
The Commission was hearing into a complaint by Kashinath Shetye and activists alleging violation of human rights of some young boys who are subjected to lathi charge, on March 29, while also conceding that CISF deployment is sovereignty of the State. The CISF had taken to task some persons who ventured out of their houses, defying lockdown orders.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said that government has given free hand to the CISF to deal with the violators.
P Faldesai, who appeared for the CISF, defended these were isolated incidents and a preliminary enquiry into these cases have been ordered. With no further grievance by the complainants, the Commission disposed off the petition.
