VASCO: Displaying a rare act of honesty, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Jawan from Dabolim Airport returned a bag containing Rs 6 lakh in cash and other valuables to its rightful owner, on Friday evening.
CISF officials informed that the CISF Jawan Kapil Rana noticed an unattended brown colour handbag at the domestic arrival area belt no-01.
After Rana immediately informed the senior CISF officials about the same, they identified the passenger using CCTV footage and proceeded to inspect bag as per the standard operating procedure.
After the bag was declared safe, a psychical search was done by the Crime and Intelligence Wing staff. They found total cash of Rs 6,20, 107 in the bag along with a smartphone, powerbank, five bank cards, deodorant, wallet and original identity proofs.
The bag was returned to the rightful owner following a verification of the Indian currency, which was done by the Income Tax department officials.
