VASCO: Tension prevailed near Pai Hospital in Vasco, after CISF PSI Virendra Yadav, attached to Dabolim airport and a youth were allegedly involved in a fight late Friday night.
Vasco police arrested PSI Yadav on charges of assaulting the youth, Sarvesh Akkasali. The police have also arrested Akkasali, after a counter-complaint was filed by Yadav stating that the victim allegedly teased his wife. The vehicular traffic was disrupted for about 45 minutes due to the incident.
According to an eye witness account, Akkasali was on his two-wheeler near Pai Hospital speaking on hismobile phone when PSI Yadav, who stays in a nearby rental flat, questioned Akkasali on why he was talking on the phone in that area. “Akkasali requested the CISF personnel to allow him to talk on the phone for a minute and then he would reply to him,” added the eye witness.
After answering the phone call, Akkasali and the CISF personnel got into an argument and Yadav, who was with two relatives, allegedly started assaulted Akkasali. As locals gathered at the site, the two relatives fled and three ladies, also CISF personnel, who were nearby, allegedly attacked Akkasali and started abusing Goans.
The crowd then allegedly manhandled Yadav and when the Vasco police arrived, handed him over to the police. Yadav and Akkasali have both been arrested.
