Agasaim-Cortalim traffic jam: Traffic Police must monitor vehicular movement at Agasaim flyover end

Traffic jam has been regular feature on Agasaim to Cortalim route now days. Every day, after 6 pm, the traffic on this route gets blocked with all the vehicles coming from Panjim to Vasco and Margao on the new flyover highway road.

The time to reach the Cortalim bridge from this new flyover is almost one to two hours. The road which leads to Cortalim Zuari Bridge is burdened with all vehicles coming from Margao, Vasco and vice versa, Traffic Police try their best to control the flow but the increase in vehicle on this route has been a big challenge for men on duty.

Mostly, Traffic Police are engaged on the junction at Cortalim and near Agassaim Police Station, but no policemen at the new road built from Agassaim to Cortalim coming from Siridao flyover.

The Traffic Police are required mainly at the point where the flyover ends at Agasaim road, where there is six-lane road but almost five lanes are formed on one way road whilst going to Cortalim. Traffic Police should be also stationed on this route as each one takes over other vehicle and the vehicles get blocked at this lane.

In order to have smooth flow, single flow should be followed on the flyover touching the backside of Agasaim church which will help smooth flow and can avoid chaos which results in delay and one has to wait for the traffic to get cleared one to two hours of time.

The Traffic Police alone cannot take all the burden but vehicle drivers should also co-operate and follow single line to clear the traffic jam.
