A few months back I had written about this alleged illegal sewerage project that has been issued NOCs in the low lying fields in Guirim village.
These fields have been getting inundated by the rains every year, even the Guirim Panchayat ghar bears the brunt of heavy rains, with water entering the premises.
The authorities have allowed this sewerage project to come up in the fields. The Town and Country Planning Department, Water Resources Department and Agriculture Department have maintained a stoic silence over the project.
The Irrigation Department spent crores of rupees to help the farmers by laying the open channels which have never been used by either. They lie in the fields like deserted skeletons. With the heavy rains pounding how can one expect the sewerage to be treated in such a waterlogged area.
To solve this, the authority will slowly start filling the remaining fields and cause further flooding to other parts of Guirim village.
Time the Honourable High Court of Bombay at Goa intervenes for the poor voiceless public. These areas have seen the recently illegal scrapyard burn, but everyone seems cool about the disaster that is taking place.
