A traffic signboard with the figure ‘50’ along the main road adjacent to the KTC bus terminus in Ponda is seen covered with branches of adjoining trees. Due to this, the signboard indicating to the travellers to restrict the speed to ’50 kms/hr’ fails to serve its basic purpose. There is every possibility of vehicles indulging in reckless driving at this strategic location.
It is absolutely necessary that the signboard is clearly visible for vehicular traffic on a permanent basis. As a precautionary measure, the concerned authorities should chop branches of trees covering this signboard on priority basis.
Let us hope that prompt positive action would follow in this regard in the interest of innocent travellers. As on Friday January 04 at 8:30 am, situation in this regard was found to be unchanged.
On the other hand, traffic signboards that were initially installed near the sharp turn adjacent to Sneha Mandir at Bandora in Ponda have presently gone missing from the spot for quite long. Vehicles are being noticed proceeding at fast speed from either side of the road and hence there is every possibility of mishaps taking place at this critical location sooner or later.
It is absolutely necessary that motorists are assured safety on a permanent basis. Hence, the re-installation of the necessary signboards at this sharp turn gains great significance.
Speed-breakers should also be installed on priority basis so that over-speeding is done away with altogether. Let us hope that the concerned authorities would consider this matter most seriously and do the needful at the earliest without any further delay.
