Although traffic signboards play a significant role in guiding travellers for having a safe journey, we often come across instances wherein the signboards are invisible for the vehicular traffic.
For instance, a signboard existing near Two Pillars at Queula village in Ponda (depicting existence of a speed-breaker nearby) has been covered with branches of adjoining trees. As a result the concerned signage is invisible for travellers proceeding along this strategic route. Two-wheeler riders proceeding with full speed would be the ultimate sufferers in the process.
There is every possibility of a mishap taking place sooner or later. Ultimately, the signboard tends to be useless in guiding innocent travellers. As on October 4 at 8:00 am, situation in this regard was found to be unchanged. The concerned authorities must chop the branches of trees that have covered the signage so that commuters at large are assured clear visibility of the said instruction.
Such a timely favourable step would go a long way in assuring safety to precious human lives. Since prevention is better than cure, let us hope that swift positive action would follow in this sensitive matter before any serious mishap takes place at this critical spot.
