Just in front of the St Inez Cemetery gate the footpath is cut for some repair work leaving a two feet wide opening where the pedestrians walk.
On November 1, when thousands of Catholic faithful visit the graves there should have been a proper barricade covering the entire footpath so that no one has a fall.

And unfortunately in the twilight with vehicle lights blinding pedestrians, I had a fall in this two foot deep ditch leaving me, a senior citizen, with a bleeding leg and a sudden jolt at my fall. Even after a week there are excruciating pains in my lower back caused due to the fall and I had to seek medical care.
The barricade was placed on the road end leaving the footpath open for someone to fall. I am unaware how many more people would have fallen in this ditch and hurt themselves. It is clear from this, how the civic authorities are careless and apathetic towards the citizenry. Do I now approach the Corporation of the City of Panjim or PWD to get a redressal and compensation for medical expenses I needed to incur because of this fall?
Similarly, the roads and footpaths in the State in general and Panjim in particular are in such a pathetic State with deep craters and potholes leaving one susceptible to injuries and vehicles needing repairs for the damage caused due to the terrible roads. A piece of advice to the civic body: Leave your lofty ideas of Smart City for now since the coffers are empty. But the essential matters such as maintaining the roads, footpaths, cleanliness, etc need to be attended to on a war footing.
Why as the Panjim MLA assured should the citizens wait till the month of January for repairs and hot-mixing of all roads which are the need of the hour?
