The underpasses present below roads, over bridges and subways below the roads (as near the GMC) are safe haven for cattle to seek rest and shelter. They find it comfortable to sit there to brood and ruminate without any disturbances from the overhead heavy traffic. But the presence of cattle is dangerous to the motorists more so to two-wheeler riders as a brush against a cow or buffalo could result in an accident which could be fatal for the driver.
The government need to construct cattle grid (also called cattle bridge or guard) that consists of a series of horizontally laid iron pipes at the entrance/exit of the underpasses and subways. The pipes could be round or straight and with a space between them for passage of water and cemented to the ground. The grids would dissuade the cattle from walking over them and entering the underpass or subway. The costs of the cattle grids are not prohibitive and would help to save lives. Further, the government should install solar powered lights in such places for the safety of the motorists and pedestrians.
