The Transport Department has decided to carry out an awareness drive against the mounting of bicycles on the cars due to its unsafe nature. The driver violates the Motor Vehicles Act, says Assistant Director of Transport Balchandra Sawant.
Mostly, the private cycle owners belonging to the cycling club enthusiasts moving around in the State of Goa are creating the cycling habits for good health by assembling at different towns, where the cycle rallies are organised. I think the department is right in its duty but fail to organise awareness against the goods vehicles such as the rickshaws and trucks that carry steel/pipe material, which protrude dangerously behind and over the drivers’ cabin, which is also a violation.
We see the two-wheeler riders also transporting material, why is the department silent on such violations? I wish the department should also start drives that have been happening in Goa every day.
