MARGAO: Village Panchayat Chinchinim-Deussa urged the District Collector (DC) to direct the concerned authorities to trim all the trees posing danger to the commuters along the street of national highway in the panchayat jurisdiction.

Sarpanch Inacina Rebello has written a letter to the South Goa District Collector in this regard.

The letter states that since the monsoon is approaching, there are a lot of dangerous trees along the street of National Highway 66 in the jurisdiction of Village Panchayat Chinchinim in the Dandeavaddo-Bandfoll section.

The panchayat wants the Collector to direct the concerned authorities to trim all the branches of the trees by the roadside and also which are falling over in the way of the electricity power line. “There is a great danger to life and property, if the said branches break in the coming monsoon,” the sarpanch stated.

It is pertinent to note that many incidents of tree fall are reported in this area in the monsoon, resulting in major hardship to the citizens, and even to the commuters.

It has been brought to the notice by the citizens that the concerned department is yet to carry out the works pertaining to trimming of tree branches in wake of fast approaching monsoon.
