On various occasions, we come across coconut leaves or branches of trees lying over live electrical wires. The situation seems rather serious and is likely to cause adverse consequences, sooner or later.
During strong winds there is every possibility of short circuit taking place thereby resulting in loss of life and property. It is absolutely necessary that the materials lying over electrical wires are cleared on regular basis so that the existing dangerous situation is brought under timely control. Seen in the picture is a coconut leaf hanging over electrical wires in the vicinity of Saraswati temple at Daag in Ponda.
Another similar instance is also noticed adjacent to the municipal garden (also in Ponda). As on July 07, 2018 at 7:45 am, situation in this regard was found to be unchanged.
I sincerely request the higher officials at the electricity department in Ponda to take a note of this important matter and undertake prompt favourable action in removing the above coconut leaf at the earliest. Since prevention is better than cure, let us hope that the concerned department would initiate swift positive steps in public interest. No doubt, safety in this sensitive matter must be assured at all costs.
