COLVA: Though the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted Goa’s major source of revenue – tourism, domestic tourists still flock to the popular Colva Beach in South Goa on the weekends.
But the lack of maintenance of the existing infrastructure on the beach by the concerned authorities has led to its dilapidated condition posing a serious danger to the visiting public especially young innocent children playing on the beach.
Speaking to Herald, a Colva resident and businessman Laureante Rodrigues drew the attention of the authorities towards the sorry state of the broken railings of the two culverts of this iconic Colva Beach.
“Colva Beach is acclaimed as an iconic beach but see the sorry condition of the existing bridge that leads to the beach. Recently, it was claimed that Rs 235 lakh were spent to develop the Colva Beach but none of the engineers nor the Tourism Department officials have taken note of this broken railings that could be dangerous to some kids safety.”
