All cross Goa, the roads are not maintained throughout the year and most of the highways and internal roads in and around Goa are filled with potholes. The potholes serve similar purpose to that of speed breakers. For both, the speed is reduced and some great inventors invent new cut off techniques in which they try to dodge the potholes and speed breakers.
With the onset of monsoons, the roads like always are going to get submerged under rainwater making the potholes not visible to the drivers/riders. However, this would lead to accidents and bring fatalities to innocent lives.
Due to the ongoing pandemic induced lockdown, there has been a drastic flow of traffic. The task of pre-monsoon work could be easily achieved one of which would be the filling of potholes and maintenance of roads and just as expected the authority failed to do so. The very fact of poor conditions of roads in Goa was voiced up by individuals in the past and the battle still continues however.
The people’s voices are taken on deaf ears till today.The common masses are still finding it difficult to travel regularly on these roads with horrible conditions. The government has no concern of the people.
As responsible individuals, we need to act wisely and take responsibility of oneself. We need to abide with the traffic rules and take safety precautions while on road. Together, let’s combat the roads with potholes as a penalty for paying tax as responsible citizens to these irresponsible casual authorities.
